Forest Farm is a regenerative not-for-profit community garden and mutual aid foundation. Our mission is to alleviate food insecurity in Oakland by providing community members with access to free, fresh foods and direct cash payments.
Oakland has one of highest rates of food insecurity and chronic disease in the country, as well as a huge amount of vacant land that is nearly impossible to build housing on due to current legislation and the political climate. We at Forest Farm believe that not all farming has to take place in wide open, flat fields and that the Oakland forestland has a thriving wild edible ecosystem that can be responsibly cultivated for the betterment of all Oaklanders, especially those who might not be frequently able to access quality fresh products grown locally.
